We are passionate about hair care and the hair industry. So much so that we want to see it as a recognised profession which is regulated, with minimum standards for anyone working in a salon, barbershop or independently.
Why is this important?
There is a truth that social media tutorials may be the first choice for knowledge and DIY haircare, and this may be due to the lack of trust we have with salons and dissatisfaction. Customers are exposed to risks of ill-health associated with hair care such as contact dermatitis or traction alopecia, whether it be at home or in a professional establishment. By improving regulations we are able to control and minimise the risk of damage to hair and scalp, thus, improving the current state of the industry within the UK.
One of our major goals is to bring about a parliamentary debate followed by a statutory change so that all practising hairdressers will need to be registered in order to work in the UK
We believe doing this will:
- increase the number of registered hairdressers
- minimise customers who suffer at the hands of professionals which can lead to ill-health in hair care
- views of being a hairdresser in the UK will be recognised as a reputable career choice
- reinstate trust within the hair industry between professionals and customers
